We all know how difficult it can be to keep track of our teenager’s whereabouts and activities. However, there are some tell-tale signs that may indicate your teen is smoking weed. If you notice any of the following behavior changes in your child, it may be time to have a talk with them about drug use.

10 Sign that your teenager is smoking weed

As a parent, it’s important to be aware of the signs that your teenager may be smoking weed. Here are 10 sign to look out for:

1. The Smell:

One of the most tell-tale signs of weed smoking is the smell. If you notice a strong, pungent smell coming from your teenager’s room or clothing, it’s likely that they’re hiding something.

2. Increased Appetite:

Another common sign of weed smoking is an increase in appetite, often referred to as “the munchies.” If your teen is eating more than usual or raiding the fridge late at night, it could be a sign that they’re using marijuana.

3. Bloodshot Eyes:

Weed smokers often have bloodshot eyes due to the dilated blood vessels caused by THC. If you notice your teen’s eyes are red and glassy, it could be a sign of drug use.

4. Paraphernalia:

If you find weed smoking paraphernalia in your teen’s room, it’s a clear sign that they’re using marijuana. Common items include pipes, bongs, rolling papers, and lighters.

5. Changes in Mood:

Smoking weed can cause mood swings and changes in behavior. If you notice your teen is more irritable, withdrawn, or paranoid, it could be a sign of drug use.

6. Lack of Motivation:

Weed smokers often have a hard time focusing and may appear lazy or uninterested in things they used to enjoy. If you notice your teen is slacking off in school or skipping out on extracurricular activities, it could be a sign of marijuana use.

7. Defensiveness:

If you try to talk to your teen about their behavior and they become defensive or evasive, it’s a red flag. This is especially true if they start making excuses or denying that they’re using drugs.

8. Financial Problems:

Weed can be expensive, so smoking it can often lead to financial problems. If you notice your teen is asking for money more often or borrowing cash from friends, it could be a sign that they’re using marijuana.

9. Changes in Friends:

If your teen starts hanging out with a new crowd or ditches their old friends, it could be a sign that they’re using drugs. This is especially true if their new friends are known drug users.

10. Poor Hygiene:

Weed smokers often have poor hygiene and may neglect their appearance. If you notice your teen is wearing dirty clothes, has unkempt hair, or is generally not taking care of themselves, it could be a sign of marijuana use.

If you notice any of these signs in your teen, it’s important to talk to them about it. Drug use can lead to serious consequences, so it’s important to nip it in the bud as soon as possible.
